Your Headshot Is Working
24 Hours a Day

Houston corporate headshot photography has one job: make sure the right people trust you before you’ve said a single word. Whether you’re an energy exec, a real estate agent, or a startup founder in the Galleria district, your headshot is working for you around the clock — on LinkedIn, your company website, speaking bio, and every email signature in between.

I’ve photographed executives, HR teams, and entire corporate offices across industries. This guide answers every question I hear before a session so you can walk in feeling confident and walk out with images you actually love.

What Is a Corporate Headshot — And Why Does It Matter in Houston?

A corporate headshot is a professional business portrait created specifically for LinkedIn, company websites, press releases, speaker bios, and marketing materials. It’s not a family photo. It’s not a selfie cropped from a networking event. It’s an intentional image built to communicate one thing: you’re someone worth trusting.

Houston is one of the most competitive business markets in the country. The energy sector, healthcare, real estate, legal, and tech industries are all packed with professionals vying for the same clients, contracts, and opportunities. A polished headshot signals to the person on the other side of that screen that you take your brand seriously — and that you’ll take their business seriously too.

  • 01
LinkedIn ProfilesYour photo is the first thing someone sees — before your title, your bio, or your credentials. Make it count.
  • 02
Company WebsitesTeam pages with cohesive, professional headshots communicate organizational polish and brand credibility instantly.
  • 03
Speaker Bios & PressHigh-visibility appearances demand high-quality imagery. A great headshot opens doors a casual photo closes.
  • 04
Email Signatures & MarketingEvery touchpoint your brand has with the world is an opportunity to build trust — or quietly undermine it.

What to Wear for Your
Houston Corporate Headshot

Wardrobe is the number one thing people stress about before a session. Here’s the short version: your face should be the focus, not your outfit. Your clothes are supporting cast, not the star.

Colors That Work Beautifully
Navy, charcoal, forest green, burgundy, cream, soft blue. Mid-to-dark solid tones photograph cleanest against most backdrops and keep the focus on your face.
What to Wear
Structured clothing — blazers, fitted jackets, tailored tops. Light layering adds visual depth. Aim for what you’d wear to an important client meeting in Houston’s business culture: polished but approachable.
What to Avoid
Busy patterns, thin stripes, large logos, neon colors, and wrinkled fabrics. These pull attention away from your face and photograph distractingly.
Jewelry & Accessories
Keep it simple and true to you. A watch or small necklace works perfectly. Statement pieces are fine if they feel like part of your personality — they just shouldn’t pull attention from your expression.
Glasses
Absolutely wear them if people recognize you in them. I manage reflections so your eyes stay clear and your look stays authentic.
Makeup & Grooming
Natural and polished always photographs best. The goal isn’t to look different — it’s to look like your best, well-rested self. I can recommend Houston-based hair and makeup artists if needed.

Should You Smile
in Your Headshot?

This is the question I get asked the most — and the answer is: it depends on who you’re trying to speak to. Your expression sets the tone before a conversation ever begins.

  • Full Warm SmileWelcoming and approachable — great for real estate agents, consultants, and client-facing roles.
  • Soft Confident SmileCalm and credible — often ideal for corporate professionals, attorneys, and financial advisors.
  • Neutral ExpressionAuthoritative and direct — strong for C-suite executives and technical leaders in Houston’s energy sector.

The real secret isn’t your mouth — it’s your eyes. I coach every client through this during the session. You won’t be guessing what to do.

How Long Does a
Session Take?

Most individual studio sessions take about 20–45 minutes. That includes guided posing, expression coaching, and reviewing your images together before you leave — so you know you’ve got what you need. No waiting weeks to be surprised.

For in-office Houston team headshot days, I schedule individual time slots of 10–15 minutes per person so the workflow stays smooth. Your employees don’t have to travel, and every photo matches for brand consistency across your company website.

Common Headshot Mistakes
Houston Professionals Make

01
Outdated Photos
Using a photo from 5+ years ago that no longer looks like you. If someone hesitates when they meet you, your headshot isn’t helping you anymore.
02
Cropped Group Photos
Cropping yourself out of a group photo for LinkedIn. Yes — people can tell. It communicates that your professional image was an afterthought.
03
Office Overhead Lighting
DIY office photos with overhead fluorescent lighting create harsh shadows under the eyes and an unflattering skin tone that no filter can fix.
04
Phone Selfies
Smartphone selfies — even iPhone Pro shots — lack the lighting calibration, posing direction, and retouching of a professional session. People can see the difference.
05
Heavy Filters
Over-edited photos that look filtered rather than professional. The goal is your best self — not a stylized, unrecognizable version of you.
06
Mismatched Team Pages
Different lighting, different backgrounds, different energy across your company About page. A patchwork team page quietly signals organizational disorder.

How Often Should You
Update Your Headshot?

Every 2–3 years is a good baseline. But update sooner if any of these apply to you:

New Role or Industry
A promotion, career pivot, or new venture deserves a headshot that reflects where you are now — not where you were.
Appearance Change
If your photo no longer looks like you, it’s creating friction — not trust — every time someone meets you in person.
Leadership Step-Up
C-suite executives, partners, and board members need headshots that match their new level of visibility and authority.
Rebrand
If your company or personal brand has evolved, your headshot should evolve with it.
Building a Personal Brand
Speaking, press features, podcasts, and thought leadership all demand imagery that’s current and intentional.
It Just Feels Off
If you hesitate to share your headshot, that feeling is the signal. In Houston’s competitive landscape, your photo should feel like a source of confidence — not embarrassment.

Houston Corporate Headshot FAQs

How much does a corporate headshot cost in Houston?+
Houston corporate headshot sessions start from $275 for individuals and scale based on session length, outfit changes, and number of retouched images. Team headshot day pricing is based on headcount. See the full Houston Pricing Guide or contact us for a custom quote.
Do you travel to Houston for headshot sessions?+
Yes! I’m based in the San Francisco Bay Area and travel to Houston for team headshot days, conference headshot booths, and corporate on-location sessions. Travel is factored into your session quote.
How many outfit changes can I bring?+
For individual studio sessions, I recommend 2–3 outfits. For team headshot days, one outfit change is usually sufficient. We’ll discuss wardrobe during your pre-session consultation so you’re never guessing what to bring.
When will I receive my images?+
Most clients receive their fully retouched images within 5–7 business days. Rush delivery within 48 hours is available upon request.
What if I’m camera shy?+
You’re in very good company — most of my clients say the same thing before we start and are genuinely surprised by how natural the session feels. I guide every client through posing and expression so you never feel awkward or unsure. The goal is to capture you at your most confident, not stiff and staged.
What’s the difference between a headshot and a branding session?+
A headshot is a focused portrait — great for LinkedIn, company websites, and press bios. A personal branding session is broader: multiple locations, outfit changes, and a library of 30–80+ images that fuel months of content. If you’re an entrepreneur or consultant building a brand, a branding session is worth the investment.
